The Year of Babies, Brides, and BBQ (March)
I totally planned to only post this every two months but March was just overflowing with babies, brides, and BBQ! Between baby showers, bridal birthdays, engagement parties, plus barbeque competitions and the launch of two more barbeque products
The Year of Babies, Brides, and BBQ
I have officially declared 2012 as the Year of Babies, Brides, and BBQ. There are at least four babies of close friends (okay
Brittany and Eric’s Engagement Portraits, Costa Mesa, California
In December, one of my best friends—since second grade—got engaged! Brittany has been known as my laughing buddy because when we get together that's all that happens! She just makes me laugh and her laugh is infectious in the best of ways. Her bubbly personality brings everyone in as if you've been friends forever. And that's how she makes you feel, even strangers. And she sure knows how to have a good time! That's a guarantee when spending time with my P*A (stands for pineapple, don't ask). Four years ago she met Eric. Eric in so many ways is Brittany's perfect guy. After so many years of Brittany making all of us smile, now he makes Brittany laugh and smile—all the time. So if you know Brittany, and thought she was so happy before, wait until you see Mrs. Totah-to-be. You can't help but smile—the whole time! Your cheeks will hurt! In a good way! ha! I am so so so excited for their wedding this November! I am so excited for all the dancing during the reception, but most excited to be stand up with Brittany as one of her bridesmaids as she becomes Eric's wife! Ah!! This is too much
A Moment: Our Disneyland Stone
Tomorrow is our 4 year wedding anniversary which means 4 years ago today, was our wedding rehearsal. After our rehearsal at the church, we all caravanned to my friend Brittany's house, a house that I have known since I was 6 years old. Her backyard was always the host of special occasions
Wedding Invitation: Jared + Katie
Just last month my family and I drove out to Dillon, Colorado for my cousin's lovely wedding in the mountains. Now that the event has come and gone, it's about time I share the invitation suite I designed for her! You may remember her save the date I posted at the end of last year, she wanted to keep the same elegant rustic feel for the invitations. In the meantime, she had started a wedding website on theknot.com and when I saw it, I thought it would be perfect to design her stationery accordingly. So I redrew the graphics from the site, used the same typefaces as the save the date, and voila! It was also the first time setting up a file for a spot varnish! I'm also including images I took from the day of the wedding and how she incorporated their "logo" into the cake and wedding program. View more images after the jump!
Save the Date: Brian & Alisa | Dutch Inspired Design
My dear friend Alisa is getting married this September. I met her while working at Central Creative. Actually, she was there when I was first interviewed and I knew right away that we'd be great friends! She has an enthusiastic and bubbly personality that just makes everyone she meets instantly happy! Whether it's her kind and encouraging words or her wonderful laugh, she'll put a smile on your face! Anyway, Alisa described her wedding as “A fall, classic, Old Pasadena wedding with a Dutch flair.” She ordered invites from Michael's, as it was just the perfect look she was going for, but then she scanned them and we were able to use the pattern from the invites for the save the date. A very traditional, yet classic look. I just love the pattern and all it's little details. Her engagement photos were taken by Cary Pennington in Pasadena. I am just so happy for them and can't wait for the wedding!
In Faith, Honesty, and Love
I, Sam, in faith, honesty and love, take you, Andy, to be my wedded husband, to share with you God's plan for our lives together united in Christ. And with God's help, to strengthen and encourage you to be a strong spiritual leader for us in our life, for better, for worse, in sickness and in health, in joys and in sorrows, until death do we part. I give you all that I have: myself and my love. In the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ. With this ring I seal my vow of love to you, Andy, and pray I may fulfill God's place in our home, in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Happy third anniversary, Andy
Shane & Kyrene are Meant to Bee
When Shane proposed to Kyrene earlier this year, the very next day Kyrene asked me to design their invitations and I was thrilled for the opportunity! These two are so genuine, so generous, and truly meant 2 bee! They embrace everyone with the biggest hugs they can muster and have a love for one another that is contagious! Kyrene's father is a beekeeper, but Kyrene was nervous to incorporate bees as it may be cheesy, but I promised it wouldn't be! With the theme of a little bit of bees and rustic elegance, we went to work. Starting with their save the date and then incporporating the little love bees across the invitation set. They had received an invitation kit to use so I had a blank canvas to work with. The paper was embossed so each page was individually cut out to accommodate a flood of color! I created a pattern for the background to resemble honeycomb but used a more curved shape pattern. After printing, each one was then tied with a tea-stained piece sheeting material to enhance the rustic feel and then backed with a solid chocolate brown card stock. Hope you like them! I just love them! It's my
