Week 2 of the Bible in 90 Days Challenge
We just finished week 2's reading of the Bible in 90 Days this past week and I was looking forward to reading the book of Deuteronomy because as I remembered the book to have some real encouraging verses sprinkled throughout the book. It's a good mix of what many think the Old Testament is (a bunch of laws and rules) and what it truly is about (God's love through the law). A favorite verse of mine from Deuteronomy 31: And the LORD, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you, He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed. I think my favorite part of this book is that Jesus himself references it when he was resisting the temptation of the devil in the wilderness (Matthew 4). The devil tries to get Jesus to turn stone into bread, have the angels come and rescue him, and then worship the devil himself. Jesus quotes verses from the book of Deuteronomy to defend himself, a great example of what we should do when we are tempted. Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. You shall
Week 1 of the Bible in 90 Days Challenge
Our bible study started the Bible in 90 Days challenge the first Thursday of January. The challenge is simple, read 12 pages a day and within 90 days you'll have read the whole Bible. Cover to cover. Verse by verse, chapter by chapter. Since I started reading the Bible from Genesis to Revelation in the summer of 2008, I have only got to Mark. That's at a pretty slow pace and with a lot of breaks on my part. So when this came up for our group to accomplish together, I was so excited! Each Thursday, during our normal Bible study time we watch a short 20 minute video summing up our reading from that past week, going over the themes of each chapter and what to look forward to next. Since we're already getting into 2 Samuel this week, I am pretty behind in my blogging of this challenge! But I will try to catch up! What I loved most about the first week's reading was reading about Moses' call to go back to Egypt, to redeem the Israelites from Pharoah. What I may not have caught before was Moses' claim in Exodus 4 that he was not an "eloquent"
Two Oh Eleven
While the year 2011 didn't have any monumentous occasions for our family of two, we did have lots of moments to celebrate with others! Here's a glimpse into the celebrations: babies, marriages, bbq, and lots of travels! January The year started with a barbeque competition on New Years Day and later in the month we visited our friends Shane and Kyrene, who were about 3 months pregnant at the time! February This may not seem like a big deal, but I got my first SLR Digital camera and it rejuvenated my passion for photography! It became my goal for the year to really learn photography and how to use my camera! Within a few weeks, Jess from J. Rose Photography asked me to tag along with her on an engagement shoot. March My lovely cousin-in-law came to town so we hit the hot spots of Los Angeles with her (at least what we could do in the pouring rain), including Intelligentsia. I had never been there before but had heard so much high praise from my friend Kathleen about it that it was a must try! While I wasn't a fan of the fellow smug guests, the coffee was pretty good! April Easter was in April this year and
Third Annual Rachel’s Birthday at Disneyland Adventure!
I had just left my position at the dance studio when I asked Rachel if I could take her to Disneyland on her birthday—it was the Year of a Million Dreams and you were given a free ticket for your birthday. She said yes—of course—and my worries of not seeing the Johnson family subsided. Who knew that that one ticket would turn into a pass, and that year pass would turn into two. And here we are, our third annual trip to celebrate Rachel's birthday, with many a trip in between. I've seen this young girl turn into a young woman, embarking upon her first year of college. I've seen her from braces to implants (ha!), from ballet to "hip hop," from the awkward middle school stage to flourishing college student. And have loved every minute of it. Thanks for wanting to spend time on your birthday with me and sharing my passion for the Happiest Place on Earth, Rachel dear. Happy 19th Birthday! P.S. I had no idea I made you take a photo with your button each year so I had to put those together too! P.P.S. Rachel has also been so kind to help me learn photography by graciously modeling for
The 44th Weekend: Friday at Disneyland
As I mentioned in yesterday's, rather late, Evernotes Every, I was prescribed muscle relaxers to help with my headaches which have taken away the headache pain but induced never ending drowsiness. Since I was planning on having a night out on Friday, my husband asked me to see if taking the muscle relaxer every other day would help with my constant drowsiness. Well, unfortunately, I had a headache
My Migraine Song
Time to get real people! I have been suffering from wicked headaches for the last few years. Each one is different from the last. Each one is triggered by something else. Sometimes its manageable and I can at least get through the day. Then there's the extreme, sick to my stomach, cannot move, cannot open my eyes, cannot stand up, migraine. And those are scary. This week I have had a headache everyday! It's been terrible. They put me in such a funky mood. I just get so depressed, feel so alone, and I get scared. Scared that there is something more wrong with me physically. Which just makes the depression deepen. I have never really talked about this before, especially not on my blog, but now is as good of a time as any other. To make it even a worse situation, I haven't been to church since early September since it seems like every Sunday I have a headache. What is up with that? I am really starting to think that Satan is trying to use these headaches as a way to attack me and I just can't stand it anymore! I finally spoke these feelings out loud to
I Choose Dumplings
For over a month, I pestered my husband. Well I know I pester him a lot more than that. But for the past month, I specifically pestered him to make me a homemade seafood dinner on my birthday. He flat out refused. To me, him making me seafood—a food group he downright despises—would mean he loves me. He cares for me. His sacrifice of cooking such a food, would mean he unselfishly loves me and would do anything for me. Andy has known since the beginning of our relationship that the way to my heart is through food. I just love food. All food. It's disgusting really. But he learned and memorized—before we had even become official—exactly how I order at every fast food place. A task that only my mother could do. When he first recited to me how I would get a burrito with no tomato, extra sauce, and xyz at Taco Bell and then go on to tell me how I order a burger at In-n-Out and then what I would get at McDonalds, I knew two things: 1, I eat out way to much; and 2, I wanted to spend the rest of my life with someone
A Moment: Our Disneyland Stone
Tomorrow is our 4 year wedding anniversary which means 4 years ago today, was our wedding rehearsal. After our rehearsal at the church, we all caravanned to my friend Brittany's house, a house that I have known since I was 6 years old. Her backyard was always the host of special occasions

Reminiscing San Francisco 2007
As our wedding anniversary gets closer, I start to reminisce about the past and occasions that I promised myself never to forget. One such occasion would be the trip my best girlfriends and I took a month before Andy and I got married in August 2007. It was one of my favorite trips I have ever been on. It was a time in life before marriages, babies, graduations, conflicts, careers, and moves across the country. A time where we were just six women who were looking forward to living our lives without a care in the world. And the laughter, the gut wrenching, cracking up til you're crying laughter. I will always remember this trip so fondly and whenever I think of San Francisco, I think of these girls and these friendships that I cherish so much. P.S. I don't have these photos on my computer so these are linked from Myspace. Holla back at that!!
