As I have been thinking of what I wanted to post as my first thankful note, I realized how much I complain about the little things in life. I am not sure if I will be able to keep this up all month long but for today I found reasons to be thankful for the things that bother me. My Husband's Shoes When I take a step of faith out of the door into the pitch blackness of the garage and trip upon my husband's shoes laying so haphazardly upon the mat, I am thankful that I have a husband who is so happy to come home to his wife that he just can't get his shoes off fast enough, so obviously there is no time to put them away. I am thankful for a husband who loves me and wants to spend as much time with me as he can even if that means I must risk my life later, and risk the spillage of my coffee all over my red dress. Thanks Andy, for loving me so.

I used to say that I wouldn't mind sitting in traffic if I had some good tunes to listen to. Now I find myself sitting in my car feeling quite suffocated by my fellow drivers and their stinky fumes. I find that I just do not have enough music to listen to and that not one of the almost thousand songs to choose from can satisfy me. I find myself watching the miles tick by and the gas gauge rapidly tick down to empty, pleading for a costly fill up. I find myself saying that I just have NO time, for God, for friends, for thinking. But do I really not have time? I have actually found myself with an enormous two hour gap in my day, one to start and one to finish. I find myself thankful that I have a car to drive to work and that in all the time Andy has had the little blue Corolla, it has not failed on us. I find myself thankful for my iPhone, which is capable of downloading podcasts from pastors that I love from all over the world, giving me not only new messages to listen to but

I am starting the book of Zephaniah. Have you ever read it? I never ever have. I have so excited to be reading books of the Bible that I have never read before. I am so excited that no matter how long this journey has been, I am nearing the New Testament. When I decided to read through the Bible, cover to cover, I had no idea that two years later I would still have a few hundred pages left to the New Testament. But I am so proud of myself that I haven't quit. There are the days, and weeks, where I just don't read. I hate to admit that, but it's true. Chances are that there's something wrong in my life and I just don't feel like it. Dumb excuse, but it's true. Or I don't wake up in time, but it's usually the former. When I don't read, I can feel it, all day long. Everything irritates me. Starting this, I never knew that one day I would actually miss reading my bible. Sometimes I feel so inspired and encouraged that nothing gets in my way and I can get through several chapters and other days I can

I first found the design work of Ty Mattson at the beginning of the last season of Lost when he designed posters for his own personal season 6 premiere party. As a fan of the show I thought the posters were pretty rad and have continued to follow Mattson's blog ever since. His whole portfolio is immaculate down to the tiniest detail. Plus, his studio is in an old lima bean processing warehouse in Irvine. This first series of posters was then picked up by ABC!! And sold on their website to the whole world. How amazingly cool is that! His own personal invites to his own personal party were made into ABC merchandise. Lesson Number 1: Design everything you can with 100% effort no matter how small of a design job it is or if it is just for the fun of it. Then Mattson outdoes himself with creating a poster each week for the Lost series final season. He used stark and simple illustrations again but this time all were created as a white illustration on a black background. And those also made it into the ABC online store. Continuing for Lesson Number 1, Mattson made his son, Shepard's birth announcement earlier this

I, Sam, in faith, honesty and love, take you, Andy, to be my wedded husband, to share with you God's plan for our lives together united in Christ. And with God's help, to strengthen and encourage you to be a strong spiritual leader for us in our life, for better, for worse, in sickness and in health, in joys and in sorrows, until death do we part. I give you all that I have: myself and my love. In the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ. With this ring I seal my vow of love to you, Andy, and pray I may fulfill God's place in our home, in the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. Happy third anniversary, Andy

Does your dad have that very special chair that everyone knows is HIS chair and if he walks into the room that chair must be vacated for his sitting pleasure? My dad for sure did. That chair has seen many football games and parties, many naps and many lap shares with his little girls to watch a Disney movie. Andy and I have been looking for "his chair" for several years now and a few weeks ago he finally found his "perfect" chair. After a few weeks of discussing whether or not to get it, I decided to get it for our anniversary for him, plus the third anniversary's traditional gift is leather, could that BE any more perfect? Annnnd plus my parents pitched in as an early birthday present! They even came down to Sam's Club just to get a preview of it, so my two favorite guys got to make sure the chair worked

Here I am waiting to leave for the boys' second BBQ competition. Thinking over everything that I am required to bring, just me and a change of clothes, while the boys rush around installing the license plate on the trailer and confirming the gallons of homemade BBQ sauce, rubs, and marinades. Oh and did I mention the 95 pounds of raw animal in our kitchen? This past Sunday the boys had their inaugural barbeque smoke-out on their new home built barbeque. And while for the entire day I was confined to the couch with the worst headache of my life, I managed to grab a few bites of beef. As I laid there I starting thinking over all the people that were in my house. It was a small gathering of family and friends, all the people that have given and supported these boys over the past 9 months. And I am thankful. I am thankful for my husband who found his passion and had the ambition to make his dreams come true. I have a hard time remembering why he is doing this sometimes. While it is fun, he hopes to one day cater full time and do this as a

When Shane proposed to Kyrene earlier this year, the very next day Kyrene asked me to design their invitations and I was thrilled for the opportunity! These two are so genuine, so generous, and truly meant 2 bee! They embrace everyone with the biggest hugs they can muster and have a love for one another that is contagious! Kyrene's father is a beekeeper, but Kyrene was nervous to incorporate bees as it may be cheesy, but I promised it wouldn't be! With the theme of a little bit of bees and rustic elegance, we went to work. Starting with their save the date and then incporporating the little love bees across the invitation set. They had received an invitation kit to use so I had a blank canvas to work with. The paper was embossed so each page was individually cut out to accommodate a flood of color! I created a pattern for the background to resemble honeycomb but used a more curved shape pattern. After printing, each one was then tied with a tea-stained piece sheeting material to enhance the rustic feel and then backed with a solid chocolate brown card stock. Hope you like them! I just love them! It's my

I have been reading the book of Hosea this past week and have started a blog post on it but this cannot wait. In Hosea, chapter 11, God spoke through Hosea, For I am God, and not man, The Holy One in your midst. The commentary by David Guzik (Enduring Word) had something so wonderfully concise on this statement. We often view God as someone on our human level with the same emotions and heart of man, but that is far from the truth. God is so much better than we are and so much more loving and forgiving
