November 2013

Over the years as I've posted a few dozen invitation designs, and all the while quite a few people encouraged me to open an Etsy shop. And I finally did! Back in February, on a night my husband was out of town, I sat down and stocked a few invites and opened a shop. Just printables, nothing printed. Calling the shop "Your New Friend Sam"—a name I had been wanting to establish here on my blog but never felt enough confidence to do. Then while working with my best friend on her wedding stationery, starting with her save the dates, I created a return address stamp with a mix of handwritten and digital type. And from there, my little shop grew from invites only, to also include rubber stamps. And that's when things got interesting. As of August, I still hadn't sold over 20 orders through my shop, but in this past month my sales have almost doubled! And that doesn't even include friends and family that have been keeping things consistent along the way. As a perfectionist, I kept delaying an official post on my shop until I felt like I truly had it figured it out

1. The Everygirl Site You know those days where you just get lost in the Internet, going from one page to the next? Well that's what happened to me this week after seeing a pin of this print from The Everygirl. I saved it for a later Monday Musings post and as I perused the website, I just loved the design of it. Especially the drop down menus. Seriously amazing and beautiful design so I just had to know more. After going through a few Google pages, I found the designer! Alaina Kaxzmarksi and her team just launched this site this week funny enough! So here's a huge shout out to them

This photo shoot came to being when Rachel and her little babe stayed the weekend at my house. Seeing them snuggled up together in bed sparked an idea to make a little outdoor bed complete with a wooden pallet headboard, a bedroom among the trees if you will. We definitely were just "winging" it the day we scampered about town looking for a location and finally found this grove of trees within a 5 minute drive from my house. In my head I pictured our little sleepy baby from Amelia's newborn and 3 month photos, but of course the little miss was wide awake
