Hedder and Reed’s One Year Wedding Anniversary Photos in the Woods and Fields of the Ortega Mountains, Outdoor Couple Portrait Photography

Ortega Mountains Anniversary Portraits | Hedder and Reed 650

Oh these two… this was such a fun photo shoot to celebrate their first wedding anniversary!

I’ve known Reed since he was in middle school… or maybe elementary school? Either way, it’s been awhile. It was a blast catching up with his wonderfully sweet wife, Hedder, and Reed on their first year of marriage and their new teaching jobs. They’re just about as genuine and real as you can get. And as a bonus, hysterically funny! I actually don’t know how any of these are in focus as they had me laughing the whole time… isn’t that part of my job?? Thanks for making it easy on me… Happy anniversary you two!

Victoria’s Senior Portraits and Albee Family Photos, Santa Rosa Plateau Outdoors Photography

Albee Family Photography Santa Rosa Plateau 043

I vividly remember when Nalani’s name popped up on my phone on a Thursday night in September. As the message was opening, I was hoping against hope that she was contacting me to take photos of their gorgeous family! And thankfully she was! I’ve known this family for over 10 years as their girls danced at the dance studio I worked—and danced—at for over 6 years. Being able to photograph Victoria for her senior photos was just so much fun, and it was so fun to catch up with the family after so many years.

Victoria, you sure have grown into such a beautiful young woman and in the short afternoon we spent together, I could see how kind your heart is. Congratulations on your upcoming graduation! I still can’t even believe you’re a senior!

Oh, and wait ’til you see their sister photos, they’re an adorable duo and I’m sure a big handful for their dad!

And to close let’s end with this adorable shot of Mom and Dad!

Thanks again Nalani, that was such a fun afternoon with you guys and I just loved all the photos too!

I can’t wait to love on you Baby Hudson…. and take thousands and thousands of photos of you over the coming years!

Hope you all enjoy taking a glance through our little afternoon in the great outdoors!

Our Week in Photos: Cooking Through Colorado

Boreas Pass Road 907

On Monday, Andy and I drove the rest of the way home from spending a week and a half in Colorado.

With two back to back competitions in Colorado, Andy and I thought we’d make a vacation out of it and spend the week in between at my aunt and uncle’s in the beautiful town of Dillon, just a short drive from Brekenridge.

I just love the beauty of this state—especially during the start of autumn, and after you see these photos, you’ll totally understand why!

We started the trip winning 5th place at the Grand Junction Pork and Hop’s BBQ competition in Grand Junction.

This was my first time actually competing with Andy, as his sous chef. I still think I did only 5% of the work though!

We then drove the few hours into the mountains to my aunts where we cuddled babies, played at the local playground (the neighbor’s front yard, haha), celebrated our 7th wedding anniversary, and drove Boreas Pass Road to see the aspen trees turning their leaves into glorious autumn colors.

We even got to drive down into Denver for a day and visit my favorite bookstore, The Tattered Cover.

And then just this past weekend, we competed at the BBQ festival in Telluride. Where we got to camp out in Mountain Village… but spent the afternoon down in the town eating Thai food and mini donuts. You would never know from these photos that a giant storm just blew through (and would come again later that night).

Then Sunday, our team won Reserve Grand Champion—before starting the drive back to California! It was a great ending to a glorious week!

Roxy and Raymond, Malibu Beach Maternity Photos

roxy malibu maternity photography 9473

I didn’t meet Roxy and Raymond in person until the day of the shoot, but instantly, they felt like friends. And they’re relationship was just so sweet to watch… Roxy has such a joy within her, a happiness that’s contagious—Raymond truly loves her so much and you can see it in the way he talks with her and admires her.

Their little boy is due in October and we’re already planning the newborn shoot! I can not wait! But until then, enjoy these sweet moments from a Sunday evening sunset on the Malibu coast.

Roxy loved her white flowy dress for the photos, she couldn’t help but play with that light gauzy material, and as her photographer, I was so happy too! It made for some dreamy captures!

Then just as the sun set behind the cliffs, Roxy changed into a second outfit for their last few photos.

Roxy and Raymond, thanks so much for choosing me! It was an honor to capture this special moment in your lives… I’m ever so looking forward to meeting baby Raymond in the coming months!

Remi’s 3 Month and Trembly Family Photos at Santa Rosa Plateau

gillian family photos santa rosa 415

Years and years ago, like 12 years ago, this loud and energetic and FUN girl was in a dance class I assisted in. Fast forward a few years and I come to find out she actually went to the church and was friends with my hubby and my new found group of friends. We were even in our friends wedding in the fall of 2012 together!

And fast foward another couple years and here were are on a gorgeous summer day photographing her new family of 3! It’s amazing what God does in our lives, the gifts he gives from friends to family.

Hope you enjoy these photos of little Remi and her loving parents, Gillian and Drew.

And thanks Auntie Yoyo for assisting us that day, I am ever so thankful!

We started with my version of baby photos, outside with blankets… I call it my ghetto newborn style. 🙂 But it works, right?

Then we brought the new parents in for more family fun.

Splish Splash, Amelia’s Under the Sea First Birthday Bash

Amelia’s first birthday party was a few weeks ago now, and I have been so anxious to post photos from the event.

Under the Sea Birthday Party Invitations

Of course, we must start with the invitations. I have to say these are pretty much my most favorite invitations I’ve ever designed. From the hand drawn illustrations to the layers of color and texture… I just love them.

Rachel picked up these fun coral envelopes (and pearl clasps for the invites she personally handed out). Then each one was hand addressed and stuffed with a white pearlescent envelope liner. I just love them!

Under the Sea Birthday Party Centerpieces

I wasn’t able to help nearly as much as I did with the baby shower, and with school finals and life in general, Rachel and I decided to tone it back for the birthday party decorations. We tried to just focus our energies on a few tables and ideas.

All the centerpieces collectively cost less than $15! We bought a few fresh succulents, collected sand from the beach, and then picked up a couple of the glass bowls at Joann’s for 99 cents! The rest of the centerpieces were random decorations from my own house (thank you, nautical themed office!) and the trays were recycled from Amie’s wedding in November. Easy!

Rachel also hung some clear ornaments in the trees to look like bubbles. The little babes loved those!

I then made a banner for the fence along with some fun fringe letters for the gift table.

On the way inside, Rachel hung a net and clipped photos from the year to it. It was really fun having the bubble maker going during the party too, it was a festive entrance for sure!

Under the Sea Bubble Balloon Wall and Cake Table

Once inside, the guests were greeted with a bubble wall… created with a mixture of pearlescent balloons and a few twisted green streamers for seaweed.

In front of the bubble wall, sat the cake table. Rachel spent the day and night before the party creating this art piece. It was so pretty! I loved the scallop frosting she did! We had a few other knick-knacks on the table as well as a few more photos. And as my gift to Amelia (okay, its really for Rachel)—I commissioned Emily from Yellowstring to create a watercolor portrait of Rachel and Amelia from the first birthday photo session at the beach. I just love how it came out and had fun finding a matching matte and frame at Hobby Lobby.

And you can’t have a first birthday without the birthday cake smash!

And one last photo, after the party was over we had to get one last shot of Miss Mia in front of the bubble wall before bathtime.

Miss Amelia’s First Year in Photos

Amelia's First Year in Photos, Sam Allen Creates

I’ve never had the chance to document the “every 3 months” photos before… getting the opportunity to capture little Mia from behind my camera is just pure joy. While editing all her birthday photos, posted yesterday, I just kept getting so  emotional—and so thankful! Not only do we have every 3 month moments, we had so many more in between. I am so blessed to get to do what I do. To watch these little ones grow from behind my camera… seeing their little sleepy smiles grow to goofy toothy grins. Oh I just love them all.

Miss Mia, I can not even describe how much love I have for you. From being there on the day you were born, meeting you just minutes after you came into this world… to just a couple weeks ago when you walked right into my arms with that giant dimple toothy grin. Oh my heart wants to burst.

How much can my heart grow with love for you. From the day you were born, I’ve loved every moment I have ever gotten to spend with you.

Amelia’s One Year Birthday Photos at the Beach

Little Miss Amelia turned one earlier this month! And for Mia’s birthday photos, we wanted to head down to the beach to take photos that we could use as decoration at her Under the Sea birthday party.

amelias first birthday beach photography 306

I know that she’s pointing at her grandma behind me, but I like to think she’s saying “I’m one!” (P.S. Thanks Grandma Kim for being THE BEST assistant ever!)

I love this girl’s smile! She just loves life, and is curious about everything! She has the heart for adventure!

amelias first birthday beach photography 362

Once we got closer to the beach itself, it was time for a wardrobe change! Rachel made Mia these adorable crowns for the photoshoot… she looks like a bohemian beach princess.

She really wasn’t too sure what to think of the sand… or the waves… or the water in general. Which led to lots of sweet moments with mommy.

I am showing you this cute little one from behind, not only to show off her standing by herself, and those chunky thighs of hers, but I am pretty sure she was screaming mad at us at this moment. 🙂

amelias first birthday beach photography 622

As the sun set, we took her up to the dry sand and just let her play. It didn’t take long for her curiosity to get the best of her and dig in.

Oh Miss Mia, thank you for always being so full of surprises and keeping us on our toes. After forcing you to take a bath outside, you would have thought we had learned our lesson. Thank you for being you, your feisty, sweet, adventurous, you.
