1. National Park Stamp Icons
Growing up, my family would take a cross country drive every other year to visit my dad’s side of the family. We’ve driven from home to Oklahoma in 24 hours, 23 hours to South Dakota. Along the way we stop at the sights. One vacation I remember fondly as the vacation of rocks… we saw Bryce Canyon, Zion, Bridges, and stopped at every rock on the side of the road too. When I saw this new app for the National Parks by National Geographic, I got really excited! What a fun way to keep track of your travels! Besides that, the icon design by Valerie Jar is so the right amount of whimsical character and bold simplicity. I would definitely be excited to collect these digital stamps. 2. California Academy of Sciences Illustrations
Love this illustration style by Bartalos Illustration, a collage of different dioramas yet each depiction is brought together to form a seamless image. Found via Eight Hour Day.
3. iPhone Business Cards
I can’t figure out if this is perfectly creative or a little on the cheesy side. What do you think? I do love how he turned the “slide to unlock” to “hire me now.” There’s a call to action! Found via swissmiss.
4. Tomb of the Unknown Soldier
This is one sharp looking website, designed by Kevin Richardson. It may be my watching the series Army Wives lately or this design sure did the subject justice as it sure evoked some emotion from me. The type treatment with the years at the bottom is my favorite detail. Visit the site here and read Richardson’s post about the design here.
5. Letterpress – für die feinen Leute
Well I can’t say much about the story behind this product as the designer is foreign but I just can’t get over how classy black and white, bold typography gets me every time! When combined with letterpressing, the effect is just deadly. It’s definitely a good looking package for wood polishing wax. Found via the Graphic-Exchange.
