1. Big Mama of Brands by Brad Woodard
After featuring Brad Woodard’s work a few times I subscribed to his site to get instantly notified on his new postings. I’m pretty behind in reading my design blogs so I was excited to go through a few of his latest projects this week including this piece for Entrepreneur Magazine. Not only does this piece called the Big Mama of Brands exude Brad’s playful illustration qualities but the design layout is very easy to read which is key. I love all the extra details like a Texas desert landscape at the top of the page. Even the icons have extra pizazz like the 2011 Texas state which is about Fortune 500 companies, he could have just had the shape of the state with the number 51 on it but it has the added detail of commercial business buildings. Really awesome work.
2. 21 Pressed Calendar Illustration
One of my favorite illustration styles is using line art with an overprint of color but then when you add textures like cross hatching in… well I’m sold. Here’s a calendar by 21 Pressed that was on display at the National Stationery Show, captured by The Sweetest Occasion. Found via Pinterest.
3. Unique Wedding Guest Book: Custom Painted Canvases
I can’t say enough how I wish I knew about wedding planning blogs when I got married five years ago!! There are so many unique ways to bring in the couple’s personalities including have a unique guest book, one that will not stay planted on a coffee table but one that can be on display in your house. I love the finger print trees that are popular now but seeing this couple’s canvas artworks being created by the guests is another great idea! If you want something more specific included in the art you could also do a paint by number piece. Either way you have some artwork for your newlywed walls! Found via Pinterest.
4. NAM’s Chocolate Trail
The more experience I get on photography shoots at work and even on my own, all I can think when looking at this image is that it would be stressful to plan! But bravo to NAM because the various final pieces came out so great! I wish I was on hand to eat the props afterward… Found via Good Design Makes Me Happy.
5. Braid’s Brand Videos
Have you ever heard of a brand video? According to Braid, a brand video is “the coolest way to really turn brand story and imagery into something that feels alive.” Monscierge’s brand video visually exudes many of their brand traits: clean and “business-time,” while showing what the Monscierge service is and how easy it is for their clients and the company itself to use. Read more about the process of the Monscierge video and as a bonus Braid also blogs about “Choosing Your Brand Video Style.” So helpful! Love their blog!
