Wise Idea

Wise Idea features great simple illustrations for so many random cliches… this is my favorite. Probably because it has to do with bacon. Found via designworklife.

Conan Concert Series

I’ve been a fan of Tad Carpenter’s illustrations for quite some time, but it’s always fun when two of your favorites merge together! Tad created a series of poster illustrations for Conan’s Summer Concert Series and they are just rocking with character and color and texture all coming together to create 4 separate yet seamless posters. Here’s my favorite, but there are also posters for Ke$ha, KT Tunstall, and Pitbull.

Dancing Watercolor

It may be my love of dance or the 13 years spent at the dance studio, but I have a strong affection for all dance related imagery. This watercolor has so much energy and so much emotion plus the variety of color just makes it feel alive! Unfortunately, I found this piece on Pinterest and the link for it doesn’t go anywhere that reveals any details on the artist, so if you know, please leave a comment below!

Pantone Fall 2011

A few seasons ago on HGTV’s Next Design Star, the woman who won created her designs based off of the client’s clothing. I thought that was just an interesting concept! And here I see the upcoming trending color schemes for women’s fall fashion paired with a Pantone color code. This continues my challenge of creating new and dynamic color schemes in my own design work… found via Pinterest.

From the decor8 blog:

“Designers take a painterly approach to fall 2011 by artfully combining bright colors with staple neutrals, reminiscent of how an artist would construct a stunning work of art,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. “Much like a painter’s masterpiece, there is a certain romance to this season’s palette.”

“Taking cues from the great masters, sepia tones of old Hollywood, Chinese opera, cityscapes and countryside, designers are paying close attention to texture, contrast and color for fall 2011 – pairing menswear with feminine twists, warm prints with cool metals, incorporating both old and new influences, and creating an intriguing balance between colors.”

Butterbeer Cupcakes

My dear friend, Kathleen, who has blogged for my before (here and here), recently accomplished a mighty feat! She baked butterbeer cupcakes! You know, butterbeer? Like from Harry Potter? From the Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade? I had found a recipe for them on Pinterest but as an incompetent fool in the kitchen, I did not brave the task, but set it before Kat to bake her little heart out, as she is known to do. Anyway, this week she posted a blog of her adventures so you must head over there and see the mighty process. And maybe venture out and make them yourself! And save me one (as Kat did not…)!

I believe in magic. I believe in the power of true love. I believe in fairy tales and happy endings. And I live to create stationery and art for the young at heart to allow my fellow dreamers to treasure all of life’s most wondrous moments!
