1. Freelance Wisdom from Kristen Drozdowski This post. Love. Needed. Loved. Read it. Once. Twice. Thrice? Not all work is fun - and during those non-fun times, it's important to always love and embrace the fact that you're allowing yourself to follow your dream to do something creative for a living! Even when it's stressful - you'll love it all if what you're doing is something that makes you happy. Found via June Letters, more on Kristen's site. 2. 40 Reasons to Love Lettering I love how Grace Bonney of Design*Sponge phrased this in her introduction to 40 Reasons to Love Lettering: As technology becomes more advanced and more impressive, I find myself missing the “old way” of doing things more and more. Even though I love a great digitally printed logo or sign, you can’t beat the hand-painted signs and lettering that used to cover shops, storefronts and the sides of buildings. I totally agree! Which is all the more reason that I love getting to create so much with lettering in my Etsy shop! I couldn't have said it better myself! And I loved going through all 40 images of such a wide variety of lettering, from the style of the lettering to the placement

Our pastor, Josh Black, writes: Be honest. Marriage & Family are the hardest things you'll ever do in life, but they can also be the most rewarding. Lots of families need help but don't know what to do. I can't wait to share what the Bible gives as the ingredients to a successful home. This next Sunday—and through the rest of the month, our church is launching into a 4 week series on family, marriage, raising kids, and even how to handle stress in life, like time management. And I just wanted to share some of the graphics created for the series

Amelia's first birthday party was a few weeks ago now, and I have been so anxious to post photos from the event. Under the Sea Birthday Party Invitations Of course, we must start with the invitations. I have to say these are pretty much my most favorite invitations I've ever designed. From the hand drawn illustrations to the layers of color and texture

Last week, my best friend finally let the cat baby out of the bag! She's expecting her first little babe this December! Before she even found out that she was pregnant, she had told me that she had wanted to take these feet photos with their little pup (okay she's not that little now, remember these Christmas photos??) So of course I am so excited to meet my new little niece, or nephew. I'm already dreaming of the cuddles, photo shoots, Disneyland trips, and mini milestones all along the way. And of course, dreaming of the baby shower!! It feels like just yesterday that I was immersed in all things pink and cherry blossoms! Now, don't you worry, I'm sure I'll be posting all along the way

Okay, please forgive me as I neglect again to post the usual Friday Foonotes post. Last week I just gave it up all together and just didn't post one. But I didn't want to leave you all hanging again! So here's a peek at my current projects, some are still in progress! 1. Splish Splash Birthday Invitation Oh how I loooooove how this invitation came out for my friend's little baby girl. It's literally my absolute favorite design I think I've ever done. Is that saying too much? I don't know

If I haven't said it a thousand times already, Jess and I make a great team! So when she came to me with the idea of a vintage summer birthday party for her son's second birthday, back in probably November haha, I had many months to get excited to get started on the project. This time, she left it fully in my hands on what to do. She just gave me a photo of a lemonade stand that she wanted to make and then said go. I thought about it for a month or two—seriously, she always gives me plenty of time—and came up with using watercolor as a way of coloring in the invitation. And since her colors started as being yellow, gray and white, I thought a simple line art illustration would work perfectly. Just to show Jess the layout I wanted to go with, I sketched out a rough idea. Once she saw it, she suggested adding the pendant banners. Love! And then we also decided to add the blue and green to add some more color and make it more kid like. It was for a 2 year old's birthday party after all. I then traced the photo
