Wine Inspired Rhode Island Wedding, Lovely Valentine Photography

Working with Marisa was a dream come true… she truly was the perfect client! I loved her ideas of projects and her sweet disposition! Her first order with me was way back in 2018 and the following year we created some custom bridesmaid proposal cards together! Over the years, I learned more about her, like her vocation in the wine industry (so cool)!

When the day finally came to work on her day-of wedding stationery, she requested a custom watercolor mix of a shade of burgundy… I spent well over an hour creating this paint mix that wouldn’t be too pink or too purple, and that would photograph nicely. I’m so thrilled with the results and am so excited to share all of these gorgeous images from Lovely Valentine along with some words from Marisa herself!

“I chose a romantic wine-inspired color palette which featured rich hues of burgundy and cabernet with soft touches of blush and champagne. The colors paid homage to mine and Jack’s shared love for wine and our life together in Napa Valley as well as my career in the wine industry. I pulled the colors into my decor from velvet linens and Sam’s gorgeous watercolor signage to a sparkling rosé escort card display and even a Champagne tower where we shared our first toast as husband and wife.”

I adore the style of Marisa’s dress, that appliqué is so gorgeous on top of that layer of sheer tulle.

“Choosing our venue was an easy choice for us. Jack and I always knew we wanted to get married in Newport, Rhode Island, our college town where we met and fell in love seven years ago. When Jack proposed to me on a trip to Newport in July 2019, we didn’t hesitate to tour Gurney’s Resort while we were in town. We immediately knew it was the perfect location for us with its charming lighthouse overlooking our favorite view in Newport, not to mention the all-white, waterfront ballroom. Gurney’s simply aligned with our wedding vision and put our love story on center stage.”

I always love when the bride chooses favors that are unique to the couple and their relationship. Gifting each guest a bottle of rosé was so perfect for this wedding and I love how this set up came out!

Guest Book

Continuing with the wine theme, the couple had their guests sign a variety of wine bottles for them to open on their future wedding anniversaries! Love it!

“There were so many moments throughout the day, both big and small, that made our wedding so special. My favorite moment though was mine and Jack’s first dance. We took private dance lessons for three months leading up to the wedding and when we finally were able to step on the dance floor and surprise our family and friends, it was the happiest moment. And when I landed the final lift of the choreography, we both couldn’t stop smiling.”

Instead of placing menus at each place setting, Marisa and Jack wrote a thank you note for their guests to read. Such a sweet way to greet their guests as they settle into their tables.

“Planning our East Coast wedding from California was the biggest challenge I faced. It required a lot of organization and endless emails and zoom calls with vendors to ensure every detail was in place. Luckily, I was able to fly back for a few in-person visits for the important things like the menu tasting, beauty trail, and site walk-throughs. While I found the time commitment required in planning a destination wedding was much greater, in the end, our creative dream team came through and brought my vision and years of hard work to life.”
