Kathleen and Allan’s Retro yet Modern Wedding Invitation featuring Caleb John Hill Photography

Back in December when we first got to see down with our bestie as she told us about her engagement and the beginnings of wedding planning, she said, “I really like this for our invitations… Did you hear me Sam? This!” And then she stared at me with her big blue eyes. Okay okay Kathleen, I get the hint. Of course I will design your wedding invtiations!

And I could not have been more honored when this girl asked me [in her very special way.] Because she has some serious style and an eye for design!

So all that to say I was nervous!

After going through a few concepts, from an illustrated full color background look to a geometric modern take… Kathleen decided on this retro yet modern and very clean look. And on top of that, she ordered these gold envelopes!

Now that her [amazing] wedding photos are starting to make their way around the Internet, I wanted to show how her simple and modern wedding invitations came out, along with a few of my favorite wedding photos.

Wedding photography and the engagement session images used in the invitations are by Caleb John Hill.

They used sittinginatree.co to collect their RSVPs, so a simple business card was included in a coin envelope to get the site and password out to guests.

Now for the wedding photos, these are just a few of the many amazing photos from Caleb John Hill, see his blog post here.

I loved Kathleen’s attention to detail… Since the wedding was held at the Riverside Art Museum, she had a table set up full of smaller cakes on cake stands to resemble Wayne Thiebaud’s “Cakes” (see photo of the oil painting here). It came out so so cool! One of my favorite parts of the decorations.

And of course, the buttons. Oh how I love these… She had their portrait illustrated by lilimandrill on Etsy. It turned out so so good!

If you follow me on Instagram, you may remember seeing me toting the Wheelers around the Northeast as it was [still is actually] attached to my camera bag.

And of course, let’s not forget the mad dancing skills of Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler. Can’t have a wedding post without this glorious action shot.

Thank you again for having me design your wedding invitations! Love you Mr. and Mrs. Wheeler!!

I believe in magic. I believe in the power of true love. I believe in fairy tales and happy endings. And I live to create stationery and art for the young at heart to allow my fellow dreamers to treasure all of life’s most wondrous moments!
