Often times, people assume that the best part about being a graphic designer and artist who works from home must be setting my own hours WHILE working in my pajamas. While those are both true, and AMAZING perks of this job, I’d have to say that my very favorite part is creating art pieces that immortalize your favorite memories. For this piece in particular, I created it for my grandma's birthday in December. The magic behind the piece is how I incorporated my amazing grandfather who passed away several years ago. It's always been so heartbreaking to all of us that he never got to experience being a great-grandfather so I thought she'd love a painting with him in it... the finishing touch was adding the saying: "Great Grandparents are always in our hearts." My grandpa was an amazing man, and although my kids will never get a chance to meet him in this life, they do get to experience his love through us and in the stories we share about him. I remember way back when, about 15 years ago actually, when my husband and I had first met. When I realized that he had memorized all of my fast food orders, which usually involved extra sauce or something more complicated like my In-n-Out order: "double double, no tomato, extra spread, add chopped chilies"—It was then that I realized he might be the one! Flash forward to today, when I get a wedding invitation in the mail, I know that as I fill out the RSVP card, hubby will want the steak option and I usually go with whatever seafood option they have. I loved making these placecard tags with the little gold icons in the corner to show the reception dinner servers which meal each guest choose... but I'm now wondering, what do you choose? And now when someone asks me, it’s tempting to keep it simple and say the exact same answer. But I know deep down that doesn’t encompass the results I get for my clients!
