One Proud Wifey

Most anyone who has met my hubby, Andy, will describe him as a quiet individual who only speaks up when he has something intelligent or funny to say (and that’s not bad!). But if you have met Andy, and known Andy, only in this past year, you may describe him differently. My husband has finally found his passion.

A few people remarked to me this past weekend how much Andy speaks out at his BBQ competitions and how different he is and I’ve been pondering this over these past few days. No matter how much time and money this BBQ thing has taken up, it is worth it. It’s worth the late night discussions on flavor profiles and the ever growing stack of Sam’s Club and Restaurant Depot receipts. It’s truly worth it because my husband has come alive. It overwhelms my heart to know how happy he is and to watch him proudly serve his BBQ goodness to the public . I’m overwhelmed at the friends he’s gathered through this, the new friends, and the old. I’m overjoyed that Kellen, his best friend since first grade, shares this passion and that they get to spend so much more time together sharing in this new adventure together.

I am so thankful for our families who continue to give their time to us, serving along side of us and running last minute errands. Saying thank you doesn’t come close to being words that can fully describe my feeling towards all of the help and gifts we’ve been given to make this possible.

Andy has now made, marketed, and sold his very own custom made BBQ rub (and soon BBQ sauce, gained the support of two corporate sponsors, and has an every growing stash of trophies and awards. This has all been accomplished within one year and seven competitions. He was invited to vend at the WestFest Rodeo in Palm Springs this weekend and will be competing at Stagecoach Country Music Festival next month.

I am so amazed at what he’s accomplished so far and what’s still to come. I am one proud wifey.

I believe in magic. I believe in the power of true love. I believe in fairy tales and happy endings. And I live to create stationery and art for the young at heart to allow my fellow dreamers to treasure all of life’s most wondrous moments!
